Brothers and Sisters π
π In Romans chapter 2 today we see the clear warning and present danger of unjustly passing judgment on others…
“For in passing judgment on another, you condemn yourself, because you (the judge) practice the very same things” (vs 1).
Q. Do you find yourself sometimes forgetting about Godβs grace in your life, and tend toward a self-righteous or βHolier than thouβ attitude toward the lives of others?
Q. Have you ever had the experience of someone judging or condemning you unjustly?
Q. Apart from Christ, if God were to rightly judge you, would you be innocent or guilty?
π Heavenly Father I confess to you my far too often critical spirit toward others – Please help us all to avoid the common practice of judging by appearances, and focus on taking the log out of our own eye before we think about the splinter in someone else’s.
π Lord Jesus we praise you today for rescuing & ransoming us from hell with your precious blood, taking all of our sin-stained actions and rightly-deserved judgment & condemnation on yourself at the cross.
π Holy Spirit please open our eyes to our own transgressions of partiality toward all of Godβs image bearers, and cause our response to His amazing grace to be an ever-increasing humility, gratitude, and love…
βοΈ βDo you suppose, O man, you who judge sinners and yet are yourself sinful, that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you presume on the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience for you, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?…Do not store up wrath for yourself, but repent (by putting your trust in Jesus) and receive eternal life!β
