Luke chapter 9

Brothers and Sisters 😊

In Luke chapter 9 today we see a lifesaving promise from our gracious God about proactively seeking His glory instead of our own, and also a firm warning to fight our carnal tendency to idolize the things of this world…

“And Jesus said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it” (vs 23-24).

Q. Is it legit to believe that because of the fallen nature of mankind, the human heart (like an idol factory) is so drawn to the here and now that often times we can’t see the heavenly forest through the earthly trees?

Q. When it comes to the concept of holding temporary things loosely, and storing up our treasures in heaven – where do you stand?

🙏 Heavenly Father I confess the many times I have not made you my priority, even though you made it a priority to redeem a broken and rebellious sinner like me – Thank you so much for sending your Son Jesus, who willingly gave up His life so that we could have the greatest of all gifts.

🙏 Lord Jesus we praise you today for “Setting your face (like flint) toward Jerusalem” even to death on the cross for all who would put their trust in you! Please help us never be ashamed of sharing the good news of your Gospel, and living a life of full-time allegiance and loyalty to you – You are so worth it, and we will never regret it…

✝️ “For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:25‬ ‭
